At Marialis, I take your privacy seriously. This notice explains what personal information I collect, why I collect it, how it is used and stored, and your rights in relation to your information.
Marialis offers Reflective Astrology and Counselling as separate services. The information I need to hold differs depending on the service you use.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, I am responsible for the personal information collected and used through Marialis.

Depending on how you contact me and which service you use, I may collect:
I aim to collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide and administer my services.
I use personal information where it is necessary to respond to enquiries, arrange and provide services you have requested, manage appointments and payments, maintain appropriate professional and business records, and meet legal or regulatory obligations.
For marketing emails and occasional Marialis news and updates, I rely on your consent. You can withdraw that consent and unsubscribe at any time.
Different lawful bases may apply to different types of information and processing. Where counselling involves special-category personal information, additional protections and conditions under UK data protection law apply.
If you book a Reflective Astrology consultation, I need your date, time and place of birth in order to calculate and prepare your birth chart.
Astrology appointments are booked through GoDaddy Online Appointments. GoDaddy therefore processes the information required to make and administer your booking.
After booking, I will contact you directly to request your birth information, confirm whether you would prefer to meet online via Zoom or in person at Waterloo Court, and provide payment and appointment information.
You may also choose to tell me about a question or area of your life you would like to explore during the consultation.
Your birth information and astrology chart will normally be retained for one year following your consultation, after which they will be securely deleted.
If your consultation takes place online, Zoom will be used for our meeting.
I do not record astrology consultations. You are welcome to make a recording of your own consultation for your personal use if you wish.
Your chart or personal information will not be used publicly, including for marketing, teaching or case examples, without your specific permission.
Counselling is offered separately from astrology.
If you enquire about counselling, I will initially use the information you provide to respond to your enquiry and arrange a free 20-minute initial conversation.
Counselling sessions cannot be self-booked through the website. If we agree to work together following our initial conversation, sessions will be arranged directly with me.
During counselling I may hold your contact information, administrative records and confidential notes relevant to our therapeutic work.
Counselling may involve information about your emotional or physical wellbeing and other aspects of your private life. Some information you choose to share may therefore constitute special-category personal data under UK data protection law and is handled with particular care.
Counselling records are retained securely for seven years following the end of our work together, after which they are securely destroyed.
Online counselling sessions are held using Zoom. Counselling sessions are not recorded.
Information relating to counselling is confidential. There are limited circumstances in which information may need to be disclosed, for example where there is a serious safeguarding concern or where disclosure is required by law. The boundaries and limits of confidentiality are explained more fully in the counselling agreement before we begin working together.
Information relating to counselling may also be discussed in professional supervision. Where this occurs, I take care to protect your identity and share only information relevant to the purpose of supervision.
If you contact Marialis through the website, by email or by telephone, I will use the information you provide to respond to your enquiry and, where appropriate, arrange or provide the service you have requested.
Professional email is provided through Microsoft 365.
I will not add you to a marketing mailing list simply because you have contacted me, booked an astrology consultation or enquired about counselling.
Payments for counselling and Reflective Astrology consultations are made by bank transfer.
I may retain information necessary for payment administration, accounting and compliance with legal and tax obligations.
I do not require you to provide bank or card details through the Marialis website.
You can choose to receive occasional news and updates from Marialis by ticking the separate email opt-in box on the website.
Signing up is entirely optional and is not a condition of receiving counselling, astrology or any other service.
You can unsubscribe at any time.
I do not sell your personal information or share it with other organisations for their own marketing purposes.
I use a small number of third-party services to provide and administer my work. These currently include:
GoDaddy — provides the Marialis website and online appointment booking for Reflective Astrology consultations.
Microsoft 365 — provides my professional email service, including emails sent to and from contact@marialis.co.uk.
Zoom — is used to provide online counselling sessions and Reflective Astrology consultations.
These providers may process limited personal information where necessary to provide their services and operate under their own privacy, security and data-protection arrangements.
Personal information may also be disclosed where I am legally required to do so, where there is a serious safeguarding concern, or where disclosure is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal rights.
I take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, unauthorised access, misuse or disclosure.
Electronic information is protected through appropriate account, password and device security. Any paper records are stored securely, and access to confidential client information is restricted.
I do not keep personal information for longer than I reasonably need it.
As a general guide:
Astrology birth data and charts: one year following the consultation.
Counselling records: seven years following the end of counselling.
Financial records: for the period required for accounting and tax purposes.
General enquiries and correspondence: only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which you contacted me.
Marketing information: until you withdraw your consent or unsubscribe.
There may be circumstances in which information needs to be retained for longer because of a legal, safeguarding, insurance or professional requirement.
Giving people either the retention period or the criteria used to determine it is specifically required in privacy information, so this section is worth retaining even though it is slightly more formal than the rest of your website.
Under UK data protection law, you have rights relating to your personal information. Depending on the circumstances, these can include the right to:
