My work is rooted in curiosity about what it means to be human — the patterns we live, the stories we carry, and the ways we make meaning of our experience. The meeting of earth and sky.

I came to astrology through my own search for understanding. Over many years it has become part of a much wider exploration that has included counselling, movement, meditation and embodied and creative practice.

What connects these different strands for me is an interest in what happens when we slow down enough to listen to our own experience.

I don't think any system, theory or interpretation can tell us who we are. Whether I am sitting with someone in an astrology consultation or working therapeutically, I am interested in meeting the person rather than fitting them into a framework.

There is always more to us than any map can contain.

Two areas of practice

I now work in two different but complementary areas: reflective astrology and counselling.

In my astrology practice, I draw on Hellenistic and experiential astrology to explore the birth chart as a symbolic map, bringing its imagery and archetypes into conversation with the life of the person sitting with me.

My counselling work is separate. It is relational and integrative, and does not require any interest in or involvement with astrology.

What the two practices share is something simpler: attention, curiosity and respect for the complexity of an individual life.

My background

I have studied astrology over many years, with certified training in Hellenistic astrology through Nightlight Astrology and experiential astrology with the Hermes Hestia Centre.

My wider background includes movement and embodied practices, especially 5Rhythms dance, alongside meditation and creative approaches to self-exploration. These have influenced the way I understand experience as something we don't only think about, but also feel and encounter through the body, imagination and relationship.

Alongside my astrology practice, I have trained in Integrative Counselling and continue to develop my therapeutic practice through further study, supervised clinical work and ongoing professional development.

My counselling placements have included Devon Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Services and Age UK, where I have had the privilege of working with people bringing a wide range of life experiences, difficulties and concerns.

Before moving into counselling and developing Marialis, I spent many years helping to run a family business in the renewable energy sector. My work involved managing people, relationships and the everyday complexities of working life, as well as helping the business grow through a period of considerable change.

That time gave me an understanding of working life that I still value: the pressures of responsibility, the uncertainty that comes with change, and the complicated relationship many of us have with work, purpose and identity. Perhaps most importantly, it gave me years of experience of working alongside people with very different personalities, needs and ways of seeing the world.
